Your new favourite alternative to a t-shirt! This pattern is fairly loose fitting although it is shaped in a bit at the waist so it's not completely shapeless. The vest is nice and long so you won't be flashing off your midriff and the dress works with both bare legs in summer as well as over leggings or jeans. Both options are included in the pattern as are instructions for adding extra seams so that you can combine different fabrics. It's a great project to start sewing as it's super easy if made all in one fabric and is really quick to sew. See more versions under the #miywalkley and #walkleydress hashtags on Instagram and on this Pinterest board. You can also find loads of inspiration, tips, reviews and tutorials specific to this pattern on Wendy's blog here.
The pattern is multi-sized and printed on 80gsm white paper (not flimsy tracing paper) which is packaged in a white paper bag with an A4 book of instructions (example in last photo). This is NOT a downloadable pdf pattern that you have to print and stick together yourself.
The multi-size pattern covers 3 sizes which cover the following body measurements:
BUST 80-84cm (31.5"-33"), 88-92cm (34.5"-36"), 96-101cm (38"-40").
The sizing and fit is skimming - it's not meant to be a skin tight garment.
This pattern is only suitable for stretch knit fabrics. You can mix and match your fabrics by adding custom seams (explained in the pattern) and the pattern works well with both lighter weight drapey knits such as single jersey and gives a more structured, boxy look with a heavier knits such as ponte roma and sweatshirt. Help with choosing fabrics can be found on the blog here and here.
This design is easy and is great for beginners that have just started to sew!
The pattern comes with a thorough instruction booklet which covers:
* fabric requirements
* cutting layouts
* an explanation of fabric layouts and cutting
* how to sew knit fabrics on a domestic sewing machine
* instructions & diagrams for how to make the vest / dress
* suggestions on how to add customised seams to personalise the pattern
* an MIY Collection label to sew into your finished garment!
